Mangrove reforestation key to Puerto Rico’s storm defense

Mangroves are the environment’s natural protectors against arising ocean, making them an invaluable tool to fight climate change. But Puerto Rico’s mangroves have been decimated by environmental destruction and urban expansion along the coast, leaving the archipelago susceptible to climate change’s worst effects. Facing no support to protect mangroves, non-profits and environmentalists are slowly trying to reforest decimated forests.
