Relationship between Suriname’s Indigenous Saamaka communities and wildlife disrupted by climate change

The longstanding tradition of relying on wild meat and fish as a food source is increasingly at risk due to recent developments, including logging, gold mining, and severe droughts caused by reduced rainfall and other climate change-related alterations to the natural landscape.
