Meet the fellows who stood out in a fiercely competitive selection process, chosen from a remarkable pool of applicants across the Caribbean.

In-person Fellow
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡พ Danielle Swain is a feature journalist and content producer at News Room Guyana, driven by her passion for storytelling. After eight years in banking, she transitioned to a creative role at Guyenterprise in 2017, where she revamped The Guyana Annual Literature and Art Magazine.

Since joining News Room in 2020, her work has focused on culture, human interest, and climate change, particularly Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy. As a 2024 Climate Tracker Fellow, she aims to simplify climate change issues and spotlight the role of Indigenous communities in climate adaptation. Danielle believes in the power of people-centric storytelling to drive meaningful change.

In-Person Fellow
๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ท Carlos is an award-winning multimedia journalist with a keen interest in covering climate, conflict, and the intersection of the two. His work as a freelance reporter and photographer has appeared in local, national, and international outlets. He will primarily be covering COP29 for 9 Millones, an independent media outlet focused on explanatory and solutions journalism.

Carlos is an alum of our Caribbean Climate Justice Journalism Fellowship, where he spent 6 months reporting about Puerto Rican communities’ struggle for climate justice.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Elesha George is an award-winning investigative journalist who is passionate about the environment. As a journalist, she believes it is her duty not only to inform but to educate with hopes that her audience will make better decisions to change their future. She has worked across various media platforms over the past 11 years including TV broadcast, multimedia, newspaper and radio.

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ Jervon Sands’ passion for writing has always shone through. He is eager to deepen his knowledge and sharpen his journalistic skills to serve the region better as a climate justice advocate. Currently pursuing an MSc in Environmental Change and Management, Jervon also serves as one of the Bahamas National Climate Change Youth Ambassadors, reflecting his dedication to driving meaningful change locally and globally.

๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡จ Colvin, a seasoned radio broadcaster with over 17 years of experience, has recently expanded into television. Raised in the rural farming community of Park Hill, St. Vincent, he has a deep passion for outdoor broadcasting and tropical meteorology. Colvin is dedicated to keeping his community informed about weather developments. In his spare time, he enjoys online research on historical topics and values spending time with his family.

๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡น Urvashi is a Mathematics graduate of the University of the West Indies. However, her career in journalism spans over 15 years. She is currently a senior multimedia journalist/presenter at CCN TV6.

Having served as the President of the Caribbean Youth Environment Network in Trinidad and Tobago, she is a GirlsCARE Mentor, Island Innovation Ambassador, and was a Journalism Fellow with Earth Journalism Network. Dizzanne is currently Caribbean Regional Director at Climate Tracker.
